My 'Lithos' lighting duet and necklace exhibited at TRANSPARENT as part of Melbourne Design Week 2022, an initiative of the Victorian Government in collaboration with the NGV.

Lithos provides the base of the geological term ‘Lithosphere’ - the most immediate outer crust of our earth. As the pieces take majority of their form in sandstone, they are very much an abstracted yet raw form of our own lithosphere.

Lithos lighting duet. Sandstone, stainless steel, raw brass and freshwater pearls.

Both lamps are constructed using Barrabool sandstone sourced from a demolished period home, as well as steel reinforcement rods, sourced from discards of a local construction site. Lithos extend a notion of rawness within my work and present a duet of object that use light to elevate this beauty.

TRANSPARENT explores how sustainable an object can really be. Thirteen emerging multidisciplinary designers come together to produce an exhibition that reveals the sustainable and not so sustainable methods within their own practices. Documenting their processes they aim to explore new materials, production methods and ways in which better their overall impact on the planet.
